What an ominous title, but in the salon world it always goes on. We run ragged during the holidays wearing our smiles and helping our clients achieve their looks for parties, events, date nights, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and much more. We spend hours on our feet through aching backs and neck pains, happily I might add. To a stylist the holidays are like our main stage, we get to go through our paces, and on the other end we get the joy of watching every smile as our client looks in that mirror and see’s that beauty they have always had, but now can see. That is why we do what we do, why we sacrifice our time and our bodies to create that moment, that one moment when you see your client light up looking in the mirror.
At the end of the the holidays you find what I like to call the end of the season train wreck, picture a ragged woman, hair a mess, makeup smeared, she has bags under her eyes and she is exhausted, sitting in a chair looking beaten. We all feel this version even though we do not show it. January brings some of us a slight breath to catch up, and others it brings a new year of all our new endeavors.
So when you see your stylist after the holidays remember what she has gone through and why.
